Next in our meet the team series, is Alan Fairlamb. Alan is our Operations Manager and the human intersection between our office and warehouse. Alan keeps us all on the same page, our machinery maintained, our quotas on target and our staff motivated…and entertained. Previously a military man, Alan likes order and organisation - but when he’s not eating the same sandwich at the same time every day, he is always on hand for an inspirational quote or two, a song, or if we’re very good – a visit from ‘Wee Alan’ a ventriloquist dummy gifted to, and modelled on himself (because one Alan just isn’t enough)!

Alan’s Role

Alan has been with Peacock Salt for 3 years and his day to day job involves wearing many hats - usually a hard hat. His role includes the planning and oversight of maintenance, production, health and safety, transportation, quality, environmental issues, waste…the list goes on.

If Alan wasn’t at Peacock Salt, he’d be…

Alan is very content at Peacock Salt; however, he has had many different roles over his career. He previously served 5 years in the army, worked in logistics and also operations management. Alan doesn’t have a dream job so long as he’s happy in his day-to-day.

A piece of advice for Alan’s younger self

“I think I would tell young Alan you would not believe the things you are going to achieve or do in your working career. Keep doing what we have always done which is be better than the previous day/years” He has achieved much but believes his biggest accomplishments are passing his Health and Safety course and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence course.

Life outside of work

Away from work, Alan is a lover of all things fitness and recently took part in Hyrox with an impressive finish time of 1hr 14 mins, though - always looking to improve - we are quite sure he will be back again to beat it. He loves good food, holidays and a soak in his beloved jacuzzi with a nice glass of wine.
